The setting of his life was important to his success because, he first started school when he was 9, and at age 16, he went to college. Where he joined a Student Representative Council. He was one of the first African american people to go to school.

He was against violence, and was imprisoned for over 25 years for being against Apartheid. Mandela was a voice for the black people during apartheid, and won a Nobel Peace Prize . One of Mandela's most famous quotes is,

Death
Mandela's cause of death was the lung infection that he had been battling for months. He was a bright person and was missed by millions of people. He died on December 5th, 2013. He was 95 years old.
Personal Connection
If I could ask him 2 important questions, they would be; How did you feel being a black person during Apartheid? How did you feel when Apartheid ended? Mr.Mandela would probably answer my first question like this, "It was troubling times for me and others, I did my best to give them something to fight peacefully for, for freedom from this segregation" He would probably answer my second question like this; "We were all very happy, but I was overjoyed. My people had finally been free and treated fairly."
